The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Honorable Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, has called on newly ordained priests from three congregations—Apostles of Jesus, Spiritan Fathers, and Montfort Missionaries—to promote the message of hard work as a means to combat poverty.
The newly ordained priests are Rev. Fr. Alex Muhwezi, SMM, from Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kishanje Parish, Rubanda District; Rev. Fr. Anaklet Asingwire, CSSp, from St. Joseph Nyamirama Parish; Rev. Fr. Robert Mugabe, AJ, from St. Kizito Maziba Parish; Rev. Fr. Christopher Niwagaba, AJ, from Holy Family Buhara Parish; Rev. Fr. Innocent Kanyesige, AJ, from Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Parish in Kabale District; and Rev. Fr. Philemon Byomuhangi, CSSp, from Immaculate Heart of Mary Rubanda Parish in Rubanda District. They were ordained from deacons to priests by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira on Sunday at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Parish in Kabale District.
Speaking at the thanksgiving ceremony for Rev. Fr. Innocent Kanyesige at Kacuro Primary School in Kyanamira sub-county of Kabale District on Monday, Honorable Atwakiire emphasized the numerous temptations that priests face today and urged them to be exemplary representatives of the Kabale Diocese.
She also cautioned Christians against tempting priests, reminding them of their humanity. Furthermore, she encouraged Christians to participate in income-generating activities instead of spending excessive time in bars drinking alcohol.
