Ntungamo District is in the final stages of completing the construction of a UGX 1.9 billion school infrastructure project at Ruhaama Secondary School. The project includes a three-classroom block with six classrooms, an ICT block, two five-stance VIP latrines, and a multipurpose hall.

Sam Mucunguzi Rwakigoba, the Ntungamo District Chairperson, disclosed this during a one-day monitoring exercise. He commended the contractor for the quality of work, noting that an estimated 87% of the construction is complete.

Mucunguzi revealed that funding for the construction of Ruhaama Secondary School was initiated and lobbied by the Ntungamo District NRM Chairperson and the Minister for Education and Sports, Mrs. Janet Kataha Museveni, from the government.

He urged the contractor to intensify efforts to ensure the structures are completed before the start of the first term in February 2025.

Mucunguzi also appealed to parents and guardians to enroll their children in the school, emphasizing the availability of adequate learning space and plans to equip the school with modern technology for quality education.

The Head Teacher of Ruhaama Secondary School, Mr. Nichols Tumutoraine, called upon parents to seize this opportunity to bring their children to a school with modern infrastructure. He highlighted the role of education in addressing social and economic development challenges.

Mr. Tumutoraine noted that Ruhaama Secondary School currently has an enrollment of 861 learners, of whom 541 are girls and 320 are boys.
