Police in Kabale District have arrested a suspect linked to the vandalism of pylons along the newly constructed 132 KV Mirama-Kabale-Karukara power line.
Kabale District Police Commander, SP Charles Okello, confirmed the arrest in a statement, noting that the suspect, whose identity has been withheld to avoid compromising ongoing investigations, is believed to have acted as a transporter for the criminals involved.
SP Okello reassured the public of the police’s commitment to apprehending the remaining culprits and eradicating the vandalism threat. He appealed to the community to support these efforts by providing information that could lead to the capture of those sabotaging critical infrastructure and hindering societal progress.
He added that police operations would be intensified in targeted areas, which may cause temporary inconveniences to the public. However, he urged residents to remain calm and cooperative, emphasizing the collective responsibility of maintaining security and advancing development.
SP Okello also highlighted increased operations against Boda Boda motorcycle-aided thefts targeting commuters and pedestrians within Kabale Municipality.
He called on residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals aiding these crimes.
SP Okello further stated that joint police and military efforts to combat vandalism and related crimes would continue, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in ensuring public safety and protecting critical infrastructure.
