Police in Rubanda District have launched a manhunt for unknown suspects who allegedly stabbed to death a 22-year-old man in Hamurwa Town Council.

The deceased has been identified as Arineitwe Valence, a resident of Gwara Village, Karukara Ward, Hamurwa Town Council. The incident occurred on Christmas Day, 25th December 2025, at around 7:30 pm, near Kikadde’s home in Hamurwa Cell.

According to preliminary police findings, the victim was chased and violently assaulted by the suspects along the Hamurwa main road. A witness, Maximiano Atuheire, a teacher and businessman operating a shop and bar in the area, told police that he heard unusual noise from the road and stepped out to check. He reportedly saw Arineitwe Valence being pursued and beaten by several people before collapsing near Kiiza Aron’s bar, where he died on the spot.

Atuheire later reported the matter to Hamurwa Police Station.

Police officers visited and documented the crime scene, recorded statements from key witnesses, and recovered exhibits to aid investigations. The body, which had a deep cut wound, was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

Police say investigations are ongoing as efforts to arrest the suspects continue.

ASP Maate Elly, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and appealed to the public to cooperate with security by providing any information that may help in the arrest of the perpetrators.
