Rev. Father Dr. Julius Turyatoranwa, the Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish in Rukungiri, has urged Catholic believers to embrace the practice of praying for their deceased members to seek forgiveness for their sins and ensure their entry into the Kingdom of heaven.

He made this call on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, during his sermon while presiding over the morning Mass at Christ the King Parish in the Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality.

This Mass was dedicated to the celebration of all Saints, marking the beginning of November, which is the month dedicated to praying for the deceased within the Catholic Church. Father Julius Turyatoranwa expressed his concern that the members of Christ the King Parish do not frequently offer Mass for their departed loved ones, despite the belief that these prayers can lead to forgiveness for the deceased.

Furthermore, he cautioned Catholics to be cautious of religious groups that attempt to imitate the Catholic faith but may conduct services incorrectly. As an example, he mentioned Owobushoborozi Bishaka, who mimicked Catholic practices while misleading people.

Kashumbusha Lawrence Tycoon, the head of the laity at Ruruku Center within Christ the King Parish, confirmed the significance of this day in Catholic faith, emphasizing that it is a crucial time for Catholic believers to fervently pray for their deceased relatives and friends.
