Residents of Nyamuniga Cell in Kihanga Parish and Ncerere Cell in Kabingo Parish, Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri District are nearing the completion of a 3-kilometer road project through communal effort.

In 2018, residents began the project with weekly communal work sessions on Thursdays, starting from Nyamuniga Church of Uganda, spanning Nyamuniga Cell to Ncerere Cell, and connecting to the Kagashe – Kihanga Main Road.

Modrin Gumoshabe, a middle-aged woman from Nyamuniga Cell, expressed gratitude, stating that the nearing completion of the road will ease transportation challenges, especially for women accessing healthcare services and markets for agricultural products.

Innocent Tugaineyo, the campaign mobilizer and prospective candidate for Sub County Councilor representing Kihanga Parish, thanked the active participants, emphasizing their determination to address the transport network shortage in the area.

John Bosco Keikuura, Chairperson of Nyamuniga B Association/Zone, highlighted the consolidation of weekly communal work to improve services and alleviate transportation challenges in their zone.

Yorokamu Twinamatsiko, LC1 Chairperson of Nyamuniga Cell, expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of government-maintained roads in their area, urging leaders and well-wishers to support them with road equipment.

Benon Mugisha, also known as “Aunt,” the LC3 Chairperson of Buhunga Sub County, commended the residents of both cells, their chairpersons, and those who contributed land towards the development initiative.
