Residents of Kiborogota cell in the Northern ward of Kebisoni town council, Rukungiri district, are expressing concern over the poor condition of roads in their area.
They emphasize that this issue is significantly hindering the transportation of people, goods, and services.
During a communal effort known as “Bulungi bwa nsi” where Kiborogota cell members were working on the Kebisoni Nyaibingo road, the LC one of Kiborogota cell, Mr. Steven Niwagaba Biganja, highlighted the challenges they face since the onset of the rainy season. He mentioned the difficulties in moving around due to the deteriorating state of the roads.
Biganja further elaborated that residents, especially farmers from villages such as Nyaibingo and Garubunda, are struggling to transport their agricultural produce to markets in Kebisoni, Buyanja, and other places.
He emphasized the need for authorities to intervene and address this pressing issue.
Steven Rwamukoyo, another resident, echoed this sentiment, stating that the ongoing communal efforts are insufficient. He pointed out that certain sections of the roads require heavy machinery like graders and culverts, which the residents cannot afford.
Rwamukoyo emphasized the importance of authorities assisting in the form of both equipment and resources to improve the roads.
Allen Niwagaba, a female resident, expressed the additional challenge faced by women in accessing health services, particularly maternal services at Kebisoni Health Center IV, due to the impassable roads in their area.
She urged authorities to take urgent action to rectify the situation before lives are lost.
