Enumerators in Mitooma district are expressing concern over the delay in receiving enumeration materials ahead of the National Population and Housing Census scheduled to commence on May 10, 2024. They report not having received essential items such as bags, t-shirts, and aprons, crucial for their identification during the census. This delay is causing anxiety among the enumerators as they fear potential challenges in the field and the accuracy of data collection.

While neighboring districts have already received their materials, Mitooma enumerators are puzzled by the delay. They worry that without proper identification, some individuals might refuse to provide data, compromising the census’s reliability.

A Mitooma enumerator, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed dissatisfaction with the situation. They highlighted that despite completing training on May 8th, they did not receive breakfast and lunch as promised by UBOS officials in the district.

In response, Shielar, the UBOS head in Mitooma district, acknowledged the delay in material distribution but assured enumerators that they would receive them before the census begins. She attributed the delay to suppliers still fulfilling orders in other areas but urged patience, assuring them that the materials would arrive on time.

Regarding the allegations of enumerators in Kabila district not receiving meals, Shielar refuted the claims, stating that she ensured all enumerators had breakfast and lunch as required.
