Police in Buhweju District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 40-year-old individual who was discovered on the roadside.
According to Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, the incident occurred on the night of May 8th, 2024, at an unspecified time. The deceased has been identified as Didas Tumuhimbise, aged 40, a resident of Nyamitooma village, Bwoga Parish, Rwengwe sub-county in Buhweju District, who worked as a peasant.
It is reported that on the night of May 8th, 2024, around 1:30 AM, at Kambugu Trading Center, the deceased was apprehended by a group of individuals on suspicion of stealing raw coffee berries from Didas Musinguzi’s garden. He was subjected to physical assault by the crowd and subsequently taken to Bwoga police station. However, the officer in charge instructed them to seek medical attention for the suspect. Unfortunately, he was later discovered deceased along the roadside at Bwoga Trading Center.
Tumusiime mentioned that the body was found with a head injury and was transported to Nsiika Health Center IV for a postmortem examination as investigations into the matter continue.
