Management of 91.8 Boona FM has officially launched activities to mark the station’s 9th anniversary, with a series of activations under the theme Ekigutuuro Rwatangoma set to culminate on July 11, 2026.
The launch was announced during a press conference held on April 16, 2026, attended by the station’s top leadership, staff, journalists, and social media influencers.
Speaking at the event, the Marketing Manager, Michael Kasozi, expressed appreciation to listeners, followers, and the business community for their continued support over the years. He noted that the station’s growth has largely been driven by strong partnerships with advertisers, whose contributions have sustained its operations. He also revealed that businesses will benefit from discounted advertising opportunities during the activation period, aimed at boosting their visibility and market reach.
The station’s Sports Manager, Timothy Tuhumwire, also known as Timo Timo, commended fans for their loyalty and support throughout the past eight years. He announced plans for friendly football matches involving Boona FC and various community teams, saying the initiative is intended to strengthen relationships, unity, and engagement with listeners.
Assistant Overall Manager Bob Rumanzi welcomed all stakeholders who attended the launch, including media practitioners, influencers, and loyal listeners. He called for continued support and participation in the upcoming activations. He further encouraged the public, especially the business community, to take advantage of early registration offers in preparation for the mega event.
Former Manager and Events Promoter, Kakyene Namanya, praised communities across western Uganda for standing with the station over the years. He outlined a schedule of pre-activation events, which will take place in Kihihi on April 20, Ishaka-Bushenyi on May 9, and Rubaare Town Council on May 30. The main anniversary celebration will be held at Rukungiri Main Stadium on July 11. He assured the public of professionalism and high-quality entertainment throughout the events.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director, Wenceslas Maanige, expressed gratitude to listeners, partners, and sponsors for their unwavering support. He announced that the station will temporarily withhold the lineup of performing artists for the anniversary celebrations. He explained that this decision is intended to give listeners an opportunity to suggest the artists they would like to see perform, as the station seeks to align the event with audience preferences while also promoting local talent.
During the press conference, management engaged with journalists and influencers, responding to questions and outlining strategies aimed at making the 9th anniversary celebrations one of the most memorable events in the region.
The Ekigutuuro Rwatangoma activations are expected to attract widespread participation across western Uganda, as Boona FM celebrates nearly a decade of broadcasting and community engagement.
