Residents residing in Nyamuniga, Kihanga Parish, Buhunga Sub-county, Rukungiri District are demanding the dismissal of their LC2 Chairperson, Kemirembe Hope, from her position.
Their grievances stem from allegations that Hope failed to allocate space on her land for the construction of a community road, despite residents’ attempts over several years to undertake the project independently. Instead, it is reported that Hope complained to the Rukungiri Central Police, accusing residents of trespassing on her land.
The residents argue that Hope’s actions demonstrate her inability to serve their interests effectively, as her refusal to facilitate community development projects contradicts her responsibilities as LC2 Chairperson. Consequently, they have united in their call for her removal from office.
In their collective stance against Hope’s leadership, the residents are demanding that she surrender all official assets in her possession. They are also planning to convene a meeting to appoint an interim replacement for the vacant position.
Moreover, residents expressed deep concern over the escalating land disputes within Buhunga Sub-county, warning of the potential for violence. They urge relevant authorities to intervene promptly to address this pressing issue.
