Parents and students of Bubaare Primary School remain in uncertainty as UNEB invalidated the results of 109 pupils due to examination malpractices. The school’s head teacher, Lilian Ayebazibwe, was arrested at Kyambogo and handed over to the Uganda police.
Denvence Tumuhimbise, a parent at Bubaare Primary School, expressed concern that his daughter had already started secondary school. He fears that repeating primary seven would pose significant challenges since they had already invested their resources in her education.
Clare Kwarikunda, another parent, shared that her daughter had moved to St. Francis in Bitooma after receiving fake results from the school’s head teacher. These results have now been nullified by UNEB. She urged the government to investigate and punish those responsible while also assisting parents financially, as many cannot afford to support their children repeating primary seven.
James Tukwase, the chairman of Lc3 Bitooma town council, stated that he had reached out to UNEB for clarification. However, the response was that parents should have their children repeat primary seven. He emphasized that parents should not blame or pressure their children, as it is not their fault. Those who have already transitioned to senior one must return to repeat primary seven.
Out of the 140 pupils who sat for the 2023 PLE, only 21 received their results, while the remaining 109 were advised to repeat primary seven.
