RDC Miriam Kagiga has assured the public of tight security as Ntungamo District prepares to host President Y.K. Museveni on Thursday 27th at Kyamate Secondary School for a campaign rally.
These remarks were made on Tuesday during a press conference held at the Office of the RDC Ntungamo, which was attended by NRM Members of Parliament flag bearers, musicians, the RDC, and her assistants. The press conference aimed at showcasing the district’s preparedness for the President’s visit and the mobilisation rallies that will take place ahead of his arrival.
Hon. Naome Kabasharira, the Member of Parliament for Rushenyi County, urged the public to come in large numbers. She noted that arrangements have been made to transport people from the villages to Ntungamo Town free of charge. She added that although the President has always wished to visit people at the constituency level, time has been limited since he visits two districts per day. Hon. Naome further encouraged people to come with their businesses—such as selling drinks and food—so they can earn a living during the event, as a large crowd is expected.
Moses Kahima, the NRM flag bearer for Ruhaama East Constituency, acknowledged that several meetings have been held with NRM chairpersons at different levels. He said they have compiled key issues that need to be addressed in their county, which they intend to present to the President on Thursday.
Hon. James Hunter Tukahirwa Byenjeru, the NRM flag bearer for Kajara, assured the public of free transport for all who wish to attend the rally, where the President will highlight the NRM manifesto. He added that he is prepared to brief the President on what is lacking in Kajara and what needs to be done to improve the living standards of the people.
RDC Miriam Kagiga Mugisha reaffirmed that tight security measures are in place to protect the people and their property ahead of the President’s visit. She strongly warned anyone intending to disrupt the event to stay at home for their own safety. She further noted that everyone has been invited, and emphasized that her role is to implement and supervise government programs.
