Local artists in Ntungamo District have expressed deep dissatisfaction over what they describe as continued neglect during President Yoweri Museveni’s ongoing campaign tours across the country.

Their concerns come after incidents in Kisoro on Monday, 24th November 2025, where several local performers, including Sir Kisoro and Turth 256, were reportedly chased off the stage by artists and DJs from Kampala. The incident left many fans disappointed and angered by what they termed disrespect toward their homegrown talent.

As Ntungamo prepares to host the President on Thursday, 27th November 2025, local musicians and comedians say they have once again been left out of both the entertainment budget and the official program.

Aisha Tasha, Chairperson of the Ntungamo District Musicians Association, said artists from Kampala have already been allocated funds to perform, yet local entertainers have not been considered. She noted that their SACCO comprises over 280 musicians, artists, and comedians who have consistently supported NRM campaigns by composing songs for the President and Members of Parliament, but they have not been facilitated in any way.

Tasha added that despite their contribution to the ruling party’s visibility on the ground, they have been excluded from performing during the President’s visit.

Justine Swazi, a committee member of the association, appreciated leaders such as Peace Rugambwa, the Presidential Advisor on Agriculture and Local People, and Nelson Tugume, CEO of Inspire Coffee Africa in Rwashamaire, for their support towards nurturing local talent. Swazi said many other leaders only focus on their personal interests and ignore local artists.

Ruhaama East NRM flag bearer Moses Kahima emphasized the importance of involving local artists in campaign rallies as a means of showcasing their talents to the President. He further noted that leaders are exploring ways to support the Ntungamo Musicians Association through the Microfinance Support Center, urging authorities to uplift all people based on their talents and skills.

Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Miriam Kagiga Mugisha, speaking during a press conference on Tuesday morning, acknowledged the artists’ concerns. She explained that although the district’s budget is too small to cater for all entertainers during the visit, arrangements are being made to include local artists in the program and support them after the President’s tour.
