Rotarian Steven Nsubuga Bewayo, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Rukungiri, has urged civil servants residing in government accommodations to take proper care of these facilities.

He made this appeal on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, during the commissioning of a twin-block staff quarter renovated by the Eastern Division at Nyakibale Upper Boarding Primary School. The renovation, which cost 20,240,980 UGX, was part of ongoing improvements in the Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality.

Bewayo emphasized that the government has integrated accommodation costs into salaries, and thus, those living in government premises should be responsible for maintaining them.

He also warned contractors against substandard work, underscoring his commitment to value for money.

His Worship Charles Makuru, the Mayor of Rukungiri Municipal Council, praised the government’s support and urged teachers to strive for high-quality grades to secure continued government backing.

David Tumwesigye, the Chairperson of LC3 Eastern Division, commended the government for the support, recognized the improvements at Nyakibale Upper Boarding Primary School, and encouraged beneficiaries to use the new block with care to ensure its longevity.

Bruno Mugisha, the Head Teacher of the school, welcomed the support and promised to maintain the block. He highlighted that many teachers previously had to travel long distances due to a shortage of staff quarters.
