KABALE: Health experts in Kabale district have warned the public to desist from excessive smoking and alcohol consumption urging that it exposes to ischemic heart diseases.

The experts urge that excessive smoking and alcohol consumption exposes to ischemic heart diseases such as; Chest pain (angina), Shortness of breath, Fast heartbeat, Shoulder or back pain, Neck, jaw, or arm pain, Sweating/clamminess, Nausea/vomiting and Fatigue among others.

According to Alfred Besigensi, the Kabale district health educator, Ischemic heart diseases are dangerous and require prompt treatment.

However, Besigensi adds that with the correct treatment, most people with ischemic heart disease can recover or maintain enough function to take care of their basic needs.

Besigensi while in an exclusive interview with our reporter in his office at Kabale district headquarter on Monday, said that 70% of both communicable and non-communicable diseases are preventable if the public reduces excessive smoking, alcohol consumption, do physical exercises and eats vegetable foods.
