Police in Rubirizi District have initiated investigations into the death of a primary school student under circumstances that remain unclear.
The incident occurred on February 25, 2024, in Buzenga forest, Magambo sub-county, Rubirizi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the event and identified the deceased as Nasasira Olivia, a 16-year-old juvenile attending Ndekye Primary School. She resided in Kizurugo village, Rubirizi parish, Magambo sub-county, Rubirizi District.
Reportedly, on February 25, 2024, around 1:00 PM, Nasasira Olivia, along with others including Bugambisa Everest’s daughter, ventured into Buzenga forest to gather firewood. On their return journey, Nasasira Olivia slipped and fell, causing the firewood she was carrying to strike her neck, rendering her unconscious.
She was swiftly transported to Lugazi Health Center IV, where medical professionals pronounced her deceased shortly after arrival. A post-mortem examination was conducted at the same facility, and investigations into the matter are currently underway.
