The territorial police in Kanungu are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 25-year-old Domiyira Kyasimire, a housewife and resident of Rwerere village, Rusoroza parish, Kihiihi sub-county, Kanungu district. Her decomposing body was found hanging from a tree in Anna Bahati’s garden.
Reportedly, on May 12, 2024, Kyasimire, who was married to Ngurusi Ezra, disappeared from her home without informing her husband. On May 16, 2024, Anna Bahati discovered her hanging in a tree in her garden and alerted area chairman Asimwe Sulaiman, who then reported the incident to Kihihi police station.
Police visited and documented the crime scene, lowered the body from the tree, and transported it to Kihihi mortuary for a postmortem examination. After the examination, the body was handed over to her relatives for a proper burial.
The deceased’s husband is currently on the run for unknown reasons.
