Police in Sheema District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping of a 25-year-old nurse by unknown individuals.

The incident reportedly occurred on December 14, 2024, at an unspecified time in Kiziba Village, Kagango Division, Sheema Municipality, Sheema District.

According to Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, the victim, identified as Anitah Ainembabazi, 25, was self-employed as a nurse at a drug shop in Kiziba Village.

The case of her disappearance was reported on December 17, 2024, by Stanley Ndyabahika, 60, a resident of Kashaka 1 Cell, Kashaka Parish, Bubale Sub-County, Mbarara District.

Ndyabahika informed the police that the victim had visited her family on December 13, 2024, and requested UGX 200,000 from her mother, claiming she needed the money to travel abroad. The parents transferred UGX 200,000 to the victim via her father’s mobile money account. She had mentioned that a man would put her on a bus to Kampala, though their location in Kagadi raised suspicions about the truth of her claim.

Later that same day, around 4:00 PM, the man called again, demanding an additional UGX 100,000, stating that the initial amount was insufficient. On December 17, 2024, he called once more, this time demanding UGX 200,000 with threats to kill the victim and dump her body in River Kooga in Sheema District if the money was not sent.

Tumusiime revealed that the victim’s phone printout and last known location suggest her phone is active around Bwizibwera and Sheema. Investigations are ongoing.
