Police in Bushenyi District are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 58-year-old man.
The incident occurred at an unknown time during the night at Kayembe, Kyamuhunga Sub-county, along the Ishaka-Kasese Highway.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the accident, stating that it involved an unidentified vehicle. The victim, Yoweri Nuwagira, a resident of Kayanga Village, Kabazi Parish, Kyamuhunga Sub-county, was reportedly crossing the road when he was struck.
The impact was severe, leaving Nuwagira’s body unrecognizable. His remains were taken to Comboni Hospital for a postmortem examination. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Authorities are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
