Police in Mitooma District are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a primary school pupil seriously injured.

The accident occurred at Rwempungu Trading Centre along the Bitereko-Kashenhero road in Mitooma District.

It involved a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UET 946L, ridden by an unidentified person.

Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, Marcial Tumusiime, confirmed the incident, stating that the victim’s identity had not yet been established at the time of reporting.

According to reports, the motorcycle, which was traveling from Bitereko towards Rwempungu Trading Centre, knocked down a male juvenile pedestrian—a pupil of Rwempungu Primary School—who was on his way to school.

Tumusiime added that the victim was rushed to Kampala International Teaching Hospital in critical condition for medical treatment, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
