Police in Bushenyi have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the murder of a security guard.
The incident occurred on the night of March 4, 2025, at around 2:00 AM in Katungu Cell, Ishaka Division, Bushenyi Municipality.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Brian Matsiiko, a 30-year-old security guard at Katungu Church of Uganda and a resident of Katungu Cell, Ward 3, Ishaka Town, Bushenyi District.
The suspect was identified as Evans Tumwiine, alias Kadogo, a 28-year-old casual laborer from the same area.
It is alleged that while on duty at Katungu Church of Uganda, the deceased saw the suspect entering the church premises and suspected him of being a thief. The deceased confronted the suspect, who refused to stop and continued toward the church. The security guard attempted to detain him, but the suspect fought back, pulling out a sharp object and stabbing him in the chest.
The suspect fled the scene, leaving the deceased crying for help. The security guard was rushed to Doctor’s Case Medical Center in Ishaka, where he later died from his injuries.
