Police in Rubirizi District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 48-year-old man.
The incident occurred on 17/03/2024 at 2:00 PM at Rutoto SDA Health Center II in Rubirizi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi police, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Peter Kabareebe, also known as Rwakiseeta, aged 48 and a resident of Kashenyi village, Kashenyi parish, Rutoto sub-county in Rubirizi District.
It is reported that the deceased was known to be a regular drinker in the area. On the aforementioned date, Kabareebe went with his friend, named Katabaazi, to Ndyamuhaki’s bar in the same village. The two ordered crude waragi for five hundred shillings (500/=) and began consuming it together.
However, during the drinking session, Kabareebe started sweating profusely and eventually collapsed unconscious. He was rushed to Rutoto SDA Health Center II where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Tumusiime mentioned that two individuals, Asaph Ndyamuhaki and his wife Sarah Natukunda, have been apprehended to assist the police in their investigation.
The body has been transferred to Rugazi Health Centre IV in Rubirizi District for a post-mortem examination.
