Police in Bushenyi District have initiated an investigation into a tragic incident involving the drowning of a 30-year-old man in a fish pond.

The event occurred at an unspecified time of the day and was brought to the attention of the authorities on March 18, 2024, at 5:00 PM.

Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi police, disclosed that the incident took place in Nyatugunda cell, Birimbi parish, Nkanga sub-county, within Bushenyi District.

The deceased, identified as Siriri Karubara, aged 30, was a resident peasant of Nyatugunda cell, Birimbi parish, Nkanga sub-county, Bushenyi District.

Reports suggest that on March 18, 2024, at 9:00 AM, Innocent Natumanya, the elder brother of the deceased, along with other relatives, commenced a search for Siriri Karubara. It was noted that the deceased had a history of mental health issues spanning close to a decade. During the search, they stumbled upon clothing items left at the edge of the fish pond, which led them closer to the body of Siriri Karubara, discovered floating in the water.

Innocent Natumanya, aged 35, reported the incident at the Akajani police post. Subsequently, the body of the deceased was transported to Kampala International Healing Hospital for a pending postmortem examination.
