The territorial police in Kisoro are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 55-year-old Sebasore Fred, a resident of Nyagishenyi village, Gasovu parish, Nyarusiza sub-county, Kisoro district.
It is alleged that on 19/01/2025, at around 6:00 PM, the deceased left his home in Nyagishenyi village and boarded a motorcycle ridden by Niyibizi Ronald, informing him that he was heading to Chanika border. However, when they reached Rubagabaga village in Chahi, the deceased disembarked from the motorcycle before reaching the Chanika border and never returned home.
On 20/01/2025, some young children, aged around 3–4 years, informed Edison Mwizerwa, the area chairman of Rubagabaga village, about a man lying in a trench along the Kisoro-Chanika road. The chairman verified the report, alerted residents, and the man was identified by a relative as Sebasore Fred, a resident of Nyagishenyi village in Nyarusiza sub-county.
The police were notified, and the scene of the crime was visited and documented. Statements were obtained from relevant witnesses, and a postmortem examination was conducted at Kisoro Hospital. Investigations are underway to establish the cause of death.
