Police in Rubirizi District have arrested a 25-year-old man on allegations of defiling a four-year-old child. The incident occurred on January 1, 2025, at around 11:00 AM in Nyabubare II Village, Kyabakara Parish, Kyabakara Sub-county in Rubirizi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Robert Tindyebwa, 25, a peasant residing in the aforementioned area.
The victim is the four-year-old daughter of Godfrey Kamukama, the complainant.
It is alleged that while the victim’s parents were working in the garden, the suspect lured her to accompany him to a coffee plantation where he sexually assaulted her.
One Akandwanaho reportedly witnessed the act and immediately informed the victim’s mother. Upon arriving at the scene, the mother found the suspect in the act and confronted him. The suspect fled the scene.
Godfrey Kamukama, 35, the father of the victim, subsequently reported the matter to the police.
