Authorities at Assumption Vocational Secondary School, under Our Lady of Assumption Rwanyena Catholic Parish in Rushoroza Deanery, Kabale Diocese, have launched a campaign to raise 500 million shillings to construct a three-storied dormitory for girls.

The fundraising drive was held over the weekend at Rwanyena Parish in Ndorwa West County, Kabale District, and presided over by the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira. Bishop Rubaramira highlighted the vital role of vocational education in shaping the future of young people and called on parents to actively participate in the school’s activities to ensure its success.

Dr. Abdon Birungi, Vice Chairperson of Our Lady of Assumption Rwanyena Parish, applauded the commitment of stakeholders in advancing the institution’s mission and reaffirmed the parish’s dedication to improving education standards in the region.

Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Catherine Ndamira Atwakire, commended the diocese for its significant contribution to household development and its alignment with government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM). She lauded the diocese’s ongoing efforts to uplift community livelihoods.

Ndorwa East MP, Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba, representing Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among, praised the parish’s integration of vocational skills with secondary education, describing it as a key step towards holistic development.

The event raised 67,329,000 shillings and 100 bags of cement. It also coincided with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Our Lady of Assumption Rwanyena Catholic Parish, which marked 60 years of dedicated service to the community.

The new dormitory is expected to provide a secure and conducive environment for female students, enhancing their academic performance and personal growth.
