The territorial police in Rukungiri are searching for Guma Justus, who is allegedly responsible for the murder of Twinomuhangi Venansio, a 45-year-old casual laborer and resident of Omukishaha Village, Kakindo Parish, Bugangari Sub-County, Rukungiri District. The incident occurred on December 22, 2024, at midnight at Ntungamo Trading Centre in the same parish.
It is reported that at around midnight, Talent Confidence, a 38-year-old businesswoman and resident of Ntungamo Trading Centre, heard someone outside shouting, “Talent, they’re killing me!” Talent woke up, grabbed a torch, and went outside. She found the deceased lying on the ground with the suspect, Guma Justus, on top of him, assaulting him. Talent intervened and separated the two before returning to her house to sleep. However, the deceased and the suspect remained at the trading center.
The following morning, at approximately 6:30 AM, Nkwatsibwe Jastus, a 50-year-old shopkeeper at Ntungamo Trading Centre, discovered the lifeless body of Twinomuhangi lying along the Ntungamo-Bugangari road. He informed the area chairperson, Munyaga Mustafa, who promptly reported the matter to the police.
The crime scene was examined and documented by police investigators. Statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, and a pair of green sandals (locally known as bagagaware), identified as belonging to the suspect, Guma Justus, were recovered at the scene. The body of the deceased was transported to Rwakabengo Health Centre III mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice.
