In Rubirizi District, two individuals have been apprehended by the police on charges of rape. Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi police, confirmed the incident, which occurred in Nyamirima1 A village, Nyamirima Parish, Katerera sub-county in Rubirizi District.
Tumusiime identified the suspects as Twesigye and Kakuru, both residents of Katerera Town Council in Rubirizi District. The alleged incident took place on 26/12/2023 at approximately 6:30 PM. The victim and a friend were returning from prayers at Nyamirima Parish Church, heading to Katerera town to visit a patient in one of the clinics in Katerera town when they encountered Twesigye and Kakuru.
Reportedly, the two men seized the victim, chased away her companion, and forcibly took her to a maize garden where they subjected her to sexual acts against her will, one after the other.
Tumusiime stated that the victim managed to support herself and promptly reported the incident to Katerera police station. Subsequently, she was taken to a nearby clinic in Katerera town and later referred to Rugazi Health Center IV for medical treatment.
