Police in Rukungiri registered a fatal accident that claimed one person.
The accident happened on Monday at about 01:00 pm at Kakirago cell 1 Bugangari sub-county Rukungiri District along Rukungiri Kanungu Road.
It involved a motor vehicle number UBJ 090F and a deceased pedestrian only identified as Turinawe Alex 35 years old of Kakirago cell 1 Bugangar sub-county Rukungiri District.
It’s alleged that the motor vehicle belonging to CHICO Road construction company was on routine work carrying Road materials from the site heading to Rukungiri side while the deceased was from the hill sloping down intending to cross the road and was knocked by the vehicle and died on spot.
The scene was visited by PC Owing Deo, who documented it, and the body was taken to Rwakabengo health center III mortuary for postmortem and later handed to relatives for burial.
The hunt for the driver of the motor vehicle is on to help police in inquiries.
