Residents of Omukiyenje cell in Bwanga parish, Nyarushanje Sub County, Rukungiri district, have voiced their frustration over the delay in receiving the Parish Development Model Funds. They applied for the funds at the onset of the program and submitted the necessary paperwork to their parish Chief. However, they have yet to receive the funds, leading them to question if the money has been allocated to other areas excluding Bwanga.
Rtd. Rev. John Bongyereire, the PDM Chairperson of Bwanga parish, refuted these claims, stating that many individuals in Bwanga have already received their allocations, and funds have been disbursed accordingly. He dismissed allegations of sabotage against the PDM, mentioning ongoing governmental adjustments to the disbursement process as a reason for the delay.
Rev. John urged those awaiting funds to remain patient, assuring them that once the system is optimized, they will receive their allocations. He explained that the government plans to distribute fifty million in one phase, benefiting fifty individuals.
Jolly Masheija, the Rukungiri District Women Chairperson, reassured those yet to benefit from the PDM funds, urging patience as the government is committed to supporting all through this initiative. Her research indicates that many individuals in Bwanga parish and Nyarushanje at large have already benefited from the program, with more allocations to come, emphasizing the need for patience.
