Inmates at Rukungiri Government prison have praised the efforts of Boona FM in the region, particularly for their educational initiatives aimed at the general public.
Today, Boona FM demonstrated its commitment by delivering various food items, including a bull, 30 bunches of bananas, and 100 kilograms of rice.
Speaking on behalf of the inmates, Spretendant of Prison Brenda Namuli expressed gratitude to Boona FM for their community-focused approach and consistent efforts to positively impact their listeners. She thanked them for the donation, highlighting its significance in demonstrating compassion, and urged the management to continue in the same spirit.
In her remarks, Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo, former Rubabo legislator and current Rubabo NRM chairperson, who also serves as one of Boona FM’s directors and who is aspiring for the Rukungiri district Woman MP seat, disclosed that the decision to donate to the prisoners stemmed from the postponement of a Thanksgiving event scheduled for the same date, April 28, 2024, at the North Kigezi Diocesan headquarters, due to unspecified circumstances.
She explained that while awaiting a new date for the Thanksgiving event, Boona FM contributed to the community by providing charity to the prisoners. Hon. Paula commended the prison officers, particularly OC Madam Brenda, for their warm reception of the Boona FM staff and acceptance of the donated items.
Boona FM had initially planned to host a large-scale Thanksgiving event at the North Kigezi Diocese to support the construction of a new Cathedral. However, this event was postponed, with the new date yet to be announced.
