The Chairperson of Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri District, Benon Mugisha Aunt, has called on parents to stop underrating government-aided schools, emphasizing that these institutions are increasingly outperforming private schools in academic results.

Speaking during the awards ceremony for first-grade achievers and a thanksgiving mass at Buhunga Primary School, Mugisha highlighted the outstanding performance of government-aided schools across the sub-county. He urged parents to trust these schools for their children’s education and encouraged the government to further motivate teachers through improved salaries.

Presiding over the thanksgiving mass, Rev. Father Frank Atuzarirwe, Assistant Priest of Rutooma Catholic Parish, Kabale Diocese, urged parents to instill Christian values in their children, emphasizing that moral guidance is key to future success.

Ms. Jackline Mpirirwe, the Inspector of Schools for Buhunga Sub County, praised the unity among parents at Buhunga Primary School, attributing sustained quality results to their support. She also cautioned against frequently changing schools, which she noted can negatively affect student performance.

The head teacher, Mr. Bernabas Beinomugisha, expressed gratitude for the school’s consistent top performance in the sub-county. He highlighted ongoing projects aimed at creating a conducive learning environment, including plans to establish a boarding section to further improve standards.

The outgoing head girl, Ahumuza Agnes, commended the staff for their disciplined teaching and rigorous revision sessions, which she said contributed significantly to the school’s success.

Nine first-grade achievers were honored with mattresses and mathematical sets to support their transition into secondary education, marking a celebration of both academic excellence and community commitment to learning.
