Kakindo Tukwatanise Savings, Loans, and Mobile Catering Association has completed its sixteenth year of service by sharing membership gifts according to savings, signaling its interest to upgrade into a SACCO.

The 16-year-old association, which started in 2009 with only 23 members, has now, in 2026, grown to 60 membership accounts—30 for women and 30 for men—with guaranteed joint accounts between husbands and wives. Today, members gathered in Omuruhita-Kakindo Parish to share domestic materials, including a church, after hard efforts of savings throughout 2025.

As the association officially marked the end of its 16th year, the all-time chairperson, Mr. Twijukye Wilber, in his speech, honored the association for helping members improve their standards of living through granting loans at low interest, saving for a better future, and giving them essential materials at the end of every year.

He announced the improvements of the association compared to the previous year, noting that savings accelerated from 345.7 million UGX in 2025 to 494.53 million UGX in 2026. He added that during the 2025 closure, the highest-saving member received 4.63 million UGX, while the member with the lowest savings earned 1.23 million UGX.

Mr. Wilber further explained that the association had expanded into other business-oriented sectors such as mobile catering, boda boda, supporting members with funeral services and celebrations, buying land, and planting bananas and coffee, among others. Most importantly, the association emphasizes supervising members’ discipline, monitoring household health, and encouraging them to educate their children.

The Bugangari Subcounty Gomborora Security Internal Officer (GISO), Mr. Enzo Kakensa, expressed gratitude, pleasure, and collaboration with the association’s development. He pledged to continue monitoring PDM in Kakindo and appreciated the association leaders for perfect leadership over 12 years, giving them the go-ahead to continue with development programs, especially in catering and savings.

The newly appointed Bugangari CDO, Mr. Taremwa Leonard Maphew, invited as a guest, urged members to always renew the association’s registration, ensure they get a loans license for security, and have loan officers available for court matters due to the association’s financial capacity. He also called for cooperation from members to always refund loans on time. He expressed pleasure with their culture of promoting discipline and good health in homes and pledged collaboration to support eligible efforts in transforming the association into a SACCO, as they meet the required eligibility.

Speaking as the guest of honor, the Bugangari Subcounty LC3 Chairperson-Elect, Turyhabwe Innocent, well known as KAINO, honored Kakindo residents for developing a culture of saving and developmental initiatives, consistently taking action. He pledged to endorse them as the subcounty custodian, collaborating with their developmental ideas and interests and providing civic education to ensure members gain valuable benefits from the association.

The association has been reported to fully promote family savings and socio-economic transformation, changing the lifestyles of some members in Kakindo Parish. Members, led by Kyogabirwe Immaculate, wife of Mr. Domnico Byamugisha, gave testimony, saying that they joined the association five years ago without any income. Today, through support from the association and loans, they have bought seven pieces of land where they grow coffee, educate their children, and have built a beautiful permanent house worth millions.
