Parents and Local Leaders from Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District have threatened to to stage a protest on the opening day of schools for term 1 2023 if Kebisoni Seed Secondary School doesn’t open to receive students .

On 5th November 2019, government through the Ministry of Education and sports commenced the construction of Kebisoni Seed secondary school in Katenga cell, Nyeibingo parish, Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District.

The cosntruction works were estimated to cost 2.9 billion Uganda Shillings and MUPA Technical Services was contracted to undertake the work ,

The projects has however since stalled

Early last year, Leaders of Kebisoni Sub County hosted the parliamentary Education committee accompanied by Members of Parliament from Rukungiri district and district leaders who pledged that the School would open for the 3rd academic term of 2022.

The Kebisoni LC3 chairperson Kahanyi Charles reiterated that the District recieved Scholastic materials and equipment which are now deteriorating ,

He says school buildings risk being vandalized, The deployed staff are idle yet parents are demanding that the school opens up as the reasons hindering its opening are minor.

The Nyeibingo Parish Councilor Arinaitwe Frank Mabwa and Katenga LC1 chairperson Patrick Rubagasira says that parents are overwhelmingly demanding for the opening of the school because their children travel long distances to access other schools.

The Rukungiri LCV chairperson Kyomukama Geoffrey says that despite the prevailing challenges he is sure that the School will open.

The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Steven Nsubuga Bewayo revealed that the contractor failed to complete the work and his contract was terminated,

He noted that the works to complete the construction are on going and they are confident the school must open.
