Parents of Kabuuga Primary School in Nyarushanje sub county, Rukungiri district are calling for the transfer of certain teachers who have been at the school for an extended period and have consistently shown poor performance in educating the pupils.

They are demanding the relocation of some teachers from Kabuuga Primary School, citing concerns that these teachers have been stationed at the school since 1989 and have failed to meet the expectations of the parents. Parents express frustration with the continuous underperformance of their children due to what they perceive as lack of dedication from certain teachers.

Furthermore, parents note that some long-serving teachers have diversified into other businesses in the area, leading to distractions from their teaching responsibilities. They also highlight issues with the attitude of these experienced teachers, stating that they have become difficult to manage for new head teachers.

The parents lament the school’s history of consistently poor examination results and attribute it to the negligence of the teachers. They claim that despite some teachers requesting transfers, their appeals have gone unanswered, leading to speculation that these teachers may intentionally be performing poorly to secure transfers to other schools.

Moreover, the parents criticize the lack of oversight from District Education Officials and inadequate supervision from head teachers, which they believe contributes to teachers neglecting their duties. They highlight the challenges of accessing the area and the poor delivery of services, making it difficult for both teachers and students alike.
