The territorial police in Rukiga District have confirmed a fatal road accident that claimed the life of one person on the night of Tuesday, June 18, 2025.
The accident occurred at around 11:33 PM at Rushebeya swamp along the Kisiizi–Rushebeya–Muhanga murram road and involved a green Zongshen tricycle, registration number UGB 212V, that was dangerously loaded with 26 full bags of charcoal and a passenger riding atop the cargo.
The deceased has been identified as Byaruhanga Ben, 30, a resident of Katabonwa Cell, Kiyanza Parish, Rwentobo Town Council in Ntungamo District.
According to police, the tricycle was headed toward Muhanga from the Rushebeya side when the rider attempted to dodge a pothole near Rushebeya Trading Centre. The vehicle lost control and overturned, killing the passenger instantly.
The scene was visited by authorities, and the body was transported to Rwentobo Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination. The tricycle has since been impounded at Rukiga Central Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
