Over 21 million shillings was raised on Sunday at the fundraising ceremony of St Peters vocational secondary school Kihumuro in Buyanja sub-county Rukungiri district to construct a storied block estimated at Uganda shillings 375,373,600.
The school was started by Nyakibale parish under Kihumuro catholic church in 2020 and so far has over 200 students in three classes of seniors 1,2and 3.
According to the school head teacher innocent Gumisiriza, parents have supported the school by raising funds which has helped them to set up some buildings in addition to government support.
He says the school is trying to construct the storied building to accommodate and get enough space for students, computer and science laboratories in addition to having modern staff offices.
Francis Batinti the senior presidential advisor thanked the minister of security for giving them support ever since they started the school hence asking him to help them so that it can be considered as a seed school in Buyanja sub-country so that they can get more help from the government.
Speaking at the fundraising ceremony as the chief guest, the Security Minister who doubles as the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi promised to roof all the buildings with all required iron sheets worth 12 million in addition to giving them more cement.
He asked the people of Rubabo to vote wisely if they are to benefit from this government by voting for NRM.
He urged local leaders to tighten security in their areas because Rukungiri is near the Democratic Republic of Congo where ADF is currently based.
