Over 250 Catholic pilgrims from Kisoro have embarked on a journey to Kibeho in Rwanda for the annual holy prayers.
Kibeho, a small town in southern Rwanda, gained international recognition due to reported apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ between 1981 and 1989.
Speaking to our reporter, Philip Ntacyotugira, the former Bufumbira North MP in Kisoro District (1996–2006), who is leading the pilgrims, described Kibeho as a sacred place that inspires Christians to cultivate loving hearts, peace, and hard work—values that support their daily lives.
He emphasized that the pilgrimage serves to reinforce the mission of spreading the word of God, which fosters peace within communities.
Meanwhile, pilgrims who spoke to our reporter expressed that their primary goal for the journey is to receive blessings and pray for their daily lives, noting that they gain significant spiritual benefits from their visits to Kibeho.
They shared that each time they visit Kibeho, they return feeling saved and spiritually renewed.
