Police in Kabale District have launched an investigation into an alleged assault by Hon. Grace Kesande Bataringaya, the Rubirizi District Woman Member of Parliament, against her biological sister in Kyanamira Sub County.
Hon. Kesande is accused of assaulting her sister, Charity Christine, on Tuesday around 4:00 PM in Rwababa Village, Kyanamira Sub County, Ndorwa East County, Kabale District. Detective SP Hakim Mukama, the Kabale District CID Officer, confirmed that the case of assault was registered at Kabale Central Police Station under reference number SD REF 60/13/8/2024, following a report by Charity Christine.
SP Mukama stated on Wednesday evening that investigations have commenced. Upon completion, the case file will be submitted to the state attorney for review, and if sanctioned, Hon. Kesande will be arraigned in court.

Charity alleges that Hon. Kesande had previously threatened her, warning her not to visit her home over what Charity described as baseless accusations. The alleged assault reportedly occurred after Charity greeted their mother, who had been residing with Hon. Kesande in Kampala for an extended period.
Charity claims that Hon. Kesande struck her on the head with a hoe handle, causing her to bleed. She accuses Hon. Kesande of taking the law into her own hands and is seeking justice from the authorities.

When contacted for comment, Hon. Kesande questioned the reporter’s authority to inquire about the allegations and declined to provide a response.
