Police in Rukungiri are investigating the circumstances under which an unidentified male adult was allegedly murdered and dumped on the roadside.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesman says the body of the deceased was discovered on 12/09/2022 at around 08:00AM at Nyamayenje Market area, along Rukungiri Ntungamo highway, Nyamayenje Ward Southern division Rukungiri Municipality, Rukungiri district, while
CPL Oketayot Michael who was reporting for Duty at the Nyamayenje traffic point saw a dead body with deep cut wounds on the head and friction wounds on the buttocks lying beside the road.
He alerted the District CID Officer.
A case of murder was registered, and the scene was visited and documented.
Maate says a police sniffer dog was introduced to the scene but it could not do much as the scene was tampered with.
The body was taken to Rwakabengo Health center III mortuary for postmortem.
Maate called on members of the public who could be missing their dear ones to visit the mortuary so that the body is identified and accorded a decent burial.
