Residents of Kiteme village Ihunga parish, Nyarushanje sub county Rukungiri district are in shock following the death of their colleague who was today swept away after Mineera river burst its banks and flooded Mineera bridge which that connects, Nyarushanje sub county, Buyanja sub county and Kebisoni town council.

Micheal Tumwesigye 39   a teacher at Kebisoni integrated primary school was travelling on his motor cycle number UDM665U when he was swapt away by the raging water.

Muhangire Spenser a resident who spoke to our reporter from the scene says the ill-fated motorcycle and a bag containing marked exams have been recovered

Muhangire says the river has always burst its banks during rainy seasons, and the government has always paid a deaf ear to repeated calls for intervention.

Micheal Musiime the LC3 Chairperson for Nyarushanje Subcounty says they were still searching    Tumwesigye’s body.

He vowed to continue presenting the issue of the persistent flooding to higher authorities noting however that it may take some time before government finally intervenes
