Muslims in the Nyakishenyi sub-county were challenged to protect mosque land to ensure sustainability and development.
These remarks were made by Habib Mwaaza Nshangabasheija the Rukungiri Muslim secretary for Lands and development while speaking to Muslims at Nyakishenyi mosque during the familiarization tour of the Rukungiri district Muslim Kadhi in the area.
He asked Muslim leaders to acquire land titles and also plant trees as measures to guard their land from encroachers.
Sheik Abdul Malik Byaruhanga Kayole the Rukungiri district Khadi commended Muslims of Nyakishenyi for their commitment and hard work towards the development of the Islamic religion regardless of being few in number.
Sheik Abdul Malik urged them to strongly believe in Allah saying that strong faith dispels all evils in the society.
He commended Canon Dr. Johnson Byabasheija the Commissioner of Prisons for supporting the Islamic religion in Nyakishenyi after helping them to roof the mosque and supporting them in its construction.
He asked them to educate their children, revealing that there is a need to start up an Islamic school in the area so that children can get more knowledge about their religion.
