Nyakishenyi Boda Boda Association secured a spot in the final of the Rubabo Boda Boda Emyoga SACCO pre-AGM competitions after a tense penalty shootout victory over Nyarushanje Boda Boda Association. The thrilling encounter, held Sunday evening at Nyakisorooza Playground in Nyakishenyi Subcounty, ended in a goalless draw in regular time before Nyakishenyi triumphed 3-2 on penalties.

Hundreds of enthusiastic spectators turned up to witness the competition, which now sets up a highly anticipated final between Nyakishenyi and Buyanja Subcounty on March 20th at Nyarushanje Model Primary School.

Speaking after the match, Caleb Begumanya Kabayo, the SACCO Chairperson and Kigezi Regional Coordinator for all Boda Boda SACCOs, commended the participants and emphasized that the primary goal of organizing such tournaments is to foster development, cooperation, and unity among boda boda riders in Rubabo. He highlighted that the SACCO supports members by providing motorcycles on loan and offering financial credit.

Caleb also noted that Rubabo Emyoga Boda Boda SACCO is the most successful government association in the Kigezi Subregion, boasting over UGX 500 million in assets—a significant milestone in empowering boda boda riders economically. He urged more members to join the SACCO and take advantage of the loan opportunities to improve their livelihoods.

Natuyamba John, the association’s spokesperson and loans officer, echoed similar sentiments, reiterating that the competitions serve as a means to improve Ugandans’ livelihoods by promoting unity among boda boda cyclists while offering financial support through loans. He encouraged more riders to join the SACCO and acquire motorcycles through affordable loan schemes to boost economic development in their communities.

John also invited spectators to attend the much-awaited final between Buyanja Subcounty and Nyakishenyi Subcounty.

Meanwhile, Nyakishenyi Boda Boda Association Chairperson Atukwase Charles Kaloori expressed his gratitude to Rubabo Boda Boda Emyoga SACCO for its role in supporting development in the area. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and accountability among boda boda members to enhance economic growth in their communities.
