Nyakibale Development SACCO Limited, based in Rukungiri Municipality, elected a new governing board on Friday, March 7, 2025, during its 19th Annual General Meeting held at Hotel Riverside. The newly elected board will serve a four-year term, with the SACCO’s updated bylaws allowing members to seek re-election for another term in their current positions.
The newly elected SACCO board consists of Chairperson BOD: Ms. Akanyihayo Fortunate, Vice Chairperson Mr. Henry Byarugaba, General Secretary Mr. Ziine Narcisius, and Treasurer: Mr. Agaba Nemesius Posias
In his remarks, the Chairperson of the Vetting Committee, Mr. Maanige Wenceslas, stated that the vetting process involved multiple consultative meetings to establish clear guidelines. The committee referred to SACCO policies and bylaws while also seeking guidance from commercial officers to ensure a transparent selection process.
Mr. Maanige revealed that out of 18 applicants, 15 successfully met the requirements and were presented to SACCO members for voting, while three were unsuccessful. He congratulated the new board members and expressed gratitude to the outgoing board for their dedicated service.
During her inaugural speech, the newly elected Chairperson, Ms. Akanyihayo Fortunate, assured members of her commitment to working collaboratively with her dynamic team to serve the interests of all members. She emphasized the goal of strengthening Nyakibale SACCO and urged newly elected leaders to prioritize the organization’s growth. She also thanked members for their trust and pledged to foster the SACCO’s continued success.
Outgoing Chairperson Mr. Mpiririrwe Aloysius thanked all SACCO partners, board members, management staff, and members for their support. He acknowledged the founding members for laying a strong foundation that has led to the SACCO’s current success.
Mr. Mpiririrwe urged the new leadership to uphold the SACCO’s vision and work towards even greater achievements. Reflecting on his tenure since his election in 2016, he described it as a privilege to have been part of the SACCO’s growth, attributing its progress to teamwork and dedication.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Julius Turyatoranywa, the Parish Priest of Christ the King and Guest of Honor, encouraged members to recruit more people, buy additional shares, save diligently, and utilize SACCO loan services. He also advised the new leadership to maintain clear communication with members to ensure transparency.
Commending the outgoing board, Fr. Julius noted that the SACCO had recorded a profit of UGX 1.27 billion in 2024, highlighting its steady growth.
Additionally, SACCO members elected the following individuals to the Supervisory Committee: Mr. Byarugaba Cornelius, Mr. Tukahirwa John Patrick, and Mr. Rutaroh Joseph Turyahikayo
The vetting committee, which consisted of Mr. Maanige Wenceslas, Mr. Ntarushonye John Bosco, and Mrs. Justine Burikano, was also retained.
