Residents of Nyakasazi in Nyamweru Sub-County, Rubanda District, are expressing their frustration over the poor condition of their main road. This road is crucial as it connects them to essential services such as hospitals and schools.
Led by Edgar Mugarura, Jackson Katurebe, and Prim Kamusiime, the residents report that they are forced to carry patients to health centers by hand due to the road’s poor state, which prevents vehicles from accessing the area.
They also mention that they must sell their crops at lower prices because they lack access to markets. The residents feel neglected, noting that leaders who seek their votes often forget their promises once elected.
In response, Rubanda District Chairman LC5 Ampeire Steven Kasyaba stated that residents of Nyakasazi should not expect immediate improvements to their road. He explained that the district has prioritized other roads in Nyamweru Sub-County, such as the Habikyezi-Kacenaga-Nyamweru road and the Igomanda-Kyokyezo-Nyamweru road. Given the district’s extensive needs, he indicated that it is not feasible to focus exclusively on one sub-county.
