The National Unity Platform (NUP) party president, Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine, has fulfilled his promise by donating a water harvesting tank to the Batwa community in Mperwe Village, Gisorora Parish, Nyakabande Sub County.
On June 7, 2024, Kyagulanyi visited Kisoro for a tourism trip and also met with the Mperwe Batwa community, where he became aware of the severe water shortage in the area.
In an interview with our reporter, Kyagulanyi stated that the party is committed to assisting the Batwa community and sharing whatever resources they have.
David Lubongoya, the General Secretary of the party, revealed that during the president’s visit, he identified the water shortage issue and promised to provide a water harvesting tank, which was delivered yesterday. Lubongoya also emphasized that the party would continue its support for the Batwa.
Nsibomana Laban, the Kisoro District chairperson of the National Unity Platform, praised the party president and secretary for keeping their promise. He noted that while many have made promises to the Batwa community, few have followed through.
Sebasole Wilson, the chairperson of the Mperwe Batwa community, expressed gratitude to the National Unity Platform leaders for the water harvesting tank. He explained that obtaining water in Mperwe Village often requires traveling to Kigezi, which is a considerable distance from their homes.
