The former Mayor of Mbarara Municipality and NRM Chairperson of Mbarara City, Mr. Tumwine Wilson, highlighted the significant social and economic transformations in development and service delivery that have occurred since the bush war of 1981. Tumwine made these remarks during a press briefing following a peaceful demonstration aimed at encouraging people in the western region to participate in celebrating the achievements of the NRM and President Museveni. The celebration is scheduled for July 5, 2024, at Kololo.
Hon. Bataringaya Bazil Rwankwene, the Chairperson of the Ankole Parliamentary Caucus and Member of Parliament for Kashari North in Mbarara District expressed his gratitude to President Museveni for his contributions to Uganda and the East African region over the past forty years. Bataringaya emphasized the importance of appreciating President Museveni’s efforts while he is still alive and stated that, as the chairperson of the Ankole Parliamentary Committee and the NRM whip for the Ankole region, he must mobilize members of parliament to participate in this thanksgiving event. This, he believes, will set a high standard for future leaders.
Muhangi Zephline, the NRM Regional Coordinator for Mobilization in the South West, called on all NRM patriots to prepare and attend the grand celebration for President Museveni on July 5, 2024, at Kololo, to honor his achievements, including his efforts in fighting corruption. Muhangi expressed optimism that if current anti-corruption measures are maintained, Uganda will soon become a corruption-free country.
Herbert Kamugisha, the NRM Chairperson of Mbarara District and Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee in Mbarara, was among other NRM supporters who participated in the peaceful demonstration. The demonstration aimed to mobilize support for the celebration of the NRM’s achievements and began at the National Forestry Reserve, proceeded through the city center, and concluded at Pelikan Hotel Kiswahili.
