Minister of State for Finance Planning and Economic Devt Henry Musasizi has revealed that government has no plans of intervening in the skyrocketing prices of commodities in the country.
Musasizi said this while officiating at the 2022 Uganda Revenue Authority Annual Budget Conference at Lake View Resort Hotel in Mbarara city.
Musasizi explained that it’s disastrous for government to subsidize the prices of commodities for its people.
However as a remedy, Musasizi advised the people to look inward and avoid items such as wheat and cooking oil which are now very expensive
Addressing the business community, Patience Tumusiime Rubagumya the commissioner for legal services and board affairs at Uganda Revenue Authority URA said the authority is projecting to collect a total sum of ugx .25.5 trillion in form of taxes in the next financial year 2022/23.
She adds that Uganda Revenue Authority will conduct tax education engagements with business operators around the country.
