Security Minister, Jim Muhwezi has said that teachers of arts subjects need Kyankwanzi training to understand the ideology of the government
While sensitizing leaders of Bugangari sub-county in Rukungiri about PDM, Muhwezi said that Arts teachers did not know the ideology of the NRM government which he said is the reason they are not teaching Ugandan children today.
He noted that the government is committed to enhancing the salaries of all civil servants but started with science and that others will follow
“They should know that all the developing country have promoted sciences and if we are to get there we must also promote scientists and science teachers’ Gen Muhwezi
Hon Muhwezi said he is worried that some people do not know the value of scientists arguing that the pay increase for scientists is meant to woo them back into the country
Muhwezi pointed out that in 2016 over 6000 Ugandan doctors were working in South Africa because they were given better pay, and that Uganda cannot keep training for export when we don’t have enough scientists here
He said the government wants doctors at the sub-county level, and that with better pay they will come from where they had gone for greener pastures.
He called on teachers of Humanities and those teaching in primary schools to calm down as government looks for money to enhance their pay.
